RUNNING ON EMPTY | Empty Margins

I'm sorry, but I can't … I'm just too busy.

If you're a human living in North America, you almost certainly can remember a time saying this or something very similar. And it's not that North America is the only place you encounter this, but it does seem like it's become something of cultural value here. We seem to idolize and perpetuate “busy” as a lofty goal and evidence of moral or character virtue.

But what if that isn't right? And what if the solution isn't simply taking a machete to our schedules? What if the margin we know is good has less to do with how much we're doing and way more to do with what, how, and why we're doing the things we do? What if rest isn't the same as inactivity?

Message Series Description:

In our modern-day lives, most of us are running at a pace that has used up all the fuel in our tanks - the dashboard lights are flashing, the alarms are blaring. Yet, we still try to keep moving on at the same pace, ignoring the warning signs of life, even the admonitions of God, who designed us to operate in this life with an integrated balance of activity and non-activity, to produce and to simply be. Our modern lives in so many ways ignore this design (in the guise of many noble causes), and we end up missing out on the very existence God has planned for us. The simple fact of the matter is that many of us are Running on Empty, and it's killing the joy and purpose Jesus has for us.
